Greater Toledo Pool Patrons:

January is flying by and it’s been so nice to have this long stretch of sunny days!!

Not a lot to report this week other than the progress on repairing the HVAC system that broke down early last week.  The repair team from Comfort Flow Heating of Springfield have procured the parts to hopefully fix everything this coming week.  We won’t really know until they’ve completed their work if everything will recover completely and we’ll be operational again, but we’re feeling confident that we’re in good hands.

In maintaining the Pool there’s a delicate balance between the heat in the building, the water temperature and the amount of condensation/evaporation that takes place in a healthy pool environment.  Even though the Greater Toledo Pool is an old facility, under normal circumstances the Staff keeps that delicate balance maintained exceptionally well.  So, with the heat off, the condensation in the building built up rapidly those first few days. We lowered the water temperature significantly to decrease the amount of evaporation.

This week I was able to get 4 large industrial dehumidifiers from Sunbelt Rentals in Albany and we were able to normalize the humidity and condensation in the building.  When the HVAC system is operational, the warm air will bring the atmosphere in the Pool back into equilibrium again.  We will also raise the water temperature back to our normal range, but it will take a couple days to be back into the mid-80’s where it’s comfortable to use the Pool for water aerobics and swimming.

I’m expecting the repairs to get our HVAC system restored and the air and water to return to a normal range relatively quickly.  So I’ll keep you posted on Facebook and the website with updates of when the Pool will reopen.  Thanks for your understanding and patience!
