Patrons of the Greater Toledo Pool:
This week brings news that none of us are happy with, but something we have to deal with nonetheless….
Our HVAC system for the pool is a very old system that we have been tending and maintaining as best we can. However, this past week, Tuesday during the night the main motor went out and shut down the system and created smoke in the building, which the Staff discovered when they came in for morning shifts. Luckily all of the safety systems that are in place worked, and except for a few blown fuses there was no fire or other damage. Without a working HVAC system the Pool cannot be open.
We have a heating and air company, Comfort Flow Heating, from Springfield working to restore the system as soon as possible. This company’s team of experts has been helping us keep the old, out-of-warranty system up and running for the last 2 years. They assessed the situation on Friday and are expediting the orders for the parts needed to fix the system and get us back up and running. The reality is, though, that’s going to be several days of down time. Hopefully we will be back up and running by (or before) the last week in January.
So sorry for the unwelcome news and the inconvenience. The District is dedicated to keeping this Pool maintained and in the best working order possible, with the intention and hope of trying to get a new Pool built in the near future.
